Care Navigation - coming soon!

Over the coming months you will notice your Receptionist asking you for a brief outline of your problem when you call to make an appointment, it’s not because they are nosey!  This new way of working is about offering you more choice and enabling you to see other Specialists outside the practice too.  This option will often be quicker and you may not need to see the GP each time.  The choice is always yours though and you will never be refused the option to book a GP appointment! For more information click here

Appointments can be made by telephoning or calling at the Medical Centre during opening hours on the above telephone number.

Please indicate to the receptionist if you wish to see a particular doctor.

Routine appointments normally offer the best opportunity to discuss your problems with a doctor:

  • You will have protected time
  • It is usually possible to discuss your concerns in some depth, or perhaps more than one issue that has been concerning you

We encourage patients to follow through a particular problem with the same doctor, who will come to know their case in some detail. Appointments which are booked in advance will enable this to happen.

Please note that, due to demand, there may be a delay of a few days for the next routine appointment with the doctor of your choice.

Urgent Appointments

A few appointments each day are reserved for urgent problems.

Drop in Surgeries

We offer a drop-in surgery for registered patients (and those living temporarily in our practice area) weekday mornings from 8.30am. This is for patients who feel they need to see a doctor the same day.  Patients are seen in turn and should appreciate that there may be patients with appointments who will be seen before them.

Please note – emergencies take priority at all times.

Drop-in surgery is ideal if:

  • your illness has developed or deteriorated very recently
  • you are concerned that your condition should not wait until the next routine appointment

However, drop-in surgery can be quite busy, and there is often a wait to be seen. Because of this, the drop-in in not really appropriate for:

  • obtaining repeat prescriptions or results of tests
  • dealing with multiple problems
  • dealing with problems which have been present for some time
  • routine follow-up of chronic problems

If in doubt, please check with the receptionist.

As you will know we have had unusually high demand on booked and drop-in appointments over the past six weeks. To manage patients safely we have decided to change the arrangements regarding number of patients to be seen at drop-in. This change will start from 1st of May 2016 .... For more information click here.

Also if it is deemed appropriate, you may be offered an appointment at one of four GP access centres across Sheffield 6pm-10pm weekdays, and 10am-6pm weekends, for more information click here.
