Over-The-Phone Appointments

Due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, we now offer initial routine appointments over the phone where applicable unless the appointment requires a face-to-face consultation immediately. When arranging an over-the-phone appointment, you will be added to the call-back list for that day and a clinician will contact you at the allotted time. Please note - there are only so many slots available on the call-back list so best practice is to call in to reception as close to the opening times as possible.

If the call-back list is full you will be asked to call back again tomorrow to try again. However, if you feel your situation is urgent you can be put on an urgent call-back list reserved for time-sensitive issues.

After an over-the-phone appointment, if more consultations are needed, the GP will discuss arranging another call-back or a face-to-face appointment should it be necessary.

Home Visits

If you need to see a doctor but feel unable to get to the surgery, please telephone to request a visit, preferably before 11.00am.  You may be put through to a doctor to discuss your problem and to arrange a visit if necessary.

Alternatively, you may be asked to leave your name and telephone number so that the doctor can call you back shortly.

Emergencies

If you feel there is an emergency -i.e. a chest pain, shortness of breath, or possible stroke etc then it is always best to dial 999 so the affected person can be seen to and treated with the urgency required.

Extended Access

Local GP practices have teamed up to provide extra weekend and evening appointments for their patients

This new service  begins on Saturday 1st October 2022, and it will mean that most people will be able to book weekend and evening appointments closer to where they live.

Remote and face-to-face appointments can be made with a variety of GP practice staff including Doctors, Advance Care Practitioners, Nurses, Nurse Associates, Health Care Assistants, Physiotherapists and Pharmacists. For more information click here

Language and Interpreting Services

We do provide an on-site Somali link-worker, appointments with which are usually provided over-the-phone. They are available at the following times:

Monday: 9:30am - 3:00pm

Wednesday: 9:30am - 1:15pm

Thursday: 9:30am - 1:00pm

Friday: 9:30am - 1:15pm

If you require an interpreter for another language to be present then please let us know in advance.

Text Reminder Service

We are able to send you a text with a reminder of any upcoming health appointments.

Please remember to update your contact details with us when you change address, telephone numbers and email address. You can either let Reception know or fill in the Update Your Personal Details form.

New Data Protection Regulations from May 2018 (GDPR)

Under the data protection regulations introduced from 25th May 2018, we will continue to contact patients via text messages regarding the delivery of care if they have provided consent to do so.

If practices are sending messages about recommended treatment for the management of a specific health issue, then this is defined as providing appropriate care for patients, not marketing purposes.

If you would like to opt out of any future contact via text messaging, then please contact reception on OPTION 3 who will arrange this for you.

Cancelling an Appointment

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.

If you do need to cancel your appointment you can either call reception  on OPTION 3 or you can - if you get an appointment reminder text message - click on the link provided to cancel your appointment.

Also, if you are registered for online services, you can cancel appointments online when the practice is closed (even if you didn't book the appointment online).
